Eco-friendly travel - Luxury green destinations

As you may know, World Tourism Day took place this month on 27th September 2017. We’re taking this opportunity to fill you in on the best locations for sustainable travel. Green travel is a rising trend and there are a number of locations throughout the world that are hot spots for celebrities. These aren’t the types of places you might go for mung beans and limited hot water, but are aiming to appeal to a more high-maintenance clientele whilst still retaining their green status.

So channel your best Leonardo DiCaprio, Stella McCartney or Charlize Theron in these eco-friendly destinations with a luxurious feel!

Canoeing on placid waters

Campi ya Kanzi – Kenya

For a luxury, green safari experience look no further than this reserve in Kenya. Described as a ‘boutique ecolodge’, where Maasai guides will give you a sustainable, walking safari. Encounter all types of wildlife from lions to giraffe, whilst staying in a luxury canvas tent with your own private porch, en-suite bathroom and 24-hour solar electricity.

Punta Islita – Costa Rica

Punta Islita is a self-proclaimed ‘planet-friendly resort’, with eco-adventures to take part in that are included in your stay, as well as cultural activities and workshops to learn about the environment you’re travelling to.

Rooms come with an al fresco terrace complete with hammock to lounge in and a view of the Costa Rican mountains or the turquoise ocean.

Relax by the infinity pool on the padded sun loungers until you fancy a drink – then lazily paddle over to the swim up bar for your choice of tipple.

El Nido Resorts – Philippines

Located on the northern part of Palawan archipelago in the Philippines, the El Nido resorts are recognised on a global scale for their eco-friendly activities, menues and education programmes. Whether you are looking for eco-adventures, eco-sanctuaries or eco-luxury resorts, El Nido has something for all.

The resorts are unspoiled by modern life, and accommodation options include water cottages on stilts over the ocean.
