Policies sold on or after 1st October 2021 include cover for any medical claim due to Coronavirus while travelling, provided that you have received the recommended number of doses of an approved Coronavirus vaccine 14 days prior to your trip commencing. This vaccination requirement shall not apply and any medical claim due to Coronavirus will be covered, where you are under 40 years of age, or if you are over 40 years of age but were ineligible for vaccination or unable to receive the vaccination for medical reasons and this is shown in your medical records.
There is NO cover under any other section of cover for any claims directly or indirectly related to a pandemic and/or epidemic, including but not limited to Coronavirus. This includes no coverage: a) if (having no symptoms of Coronavirus and you have not tested positive for Coronavirus) you are advised to quarantine or choose to self–isolate due to a person you have come into contact with having Coronavirus, or b) for claims relating to the fear or threat of a pandemic and/or epidemic, including but not limited to Coronavirus. Full details of the cover our policies provide, can be found on your Certificate and within the policy wording.
Which countries can I travel to?
Our policies will NOT cover you to travel to a specific country or to an area where, prior to your trip commencing, the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) have advised against all (or all but essential) travel. This exclusion does not apply where your destination is within Area 2 – Europe (see the ‘Areas of Cover’ within the policy wording) and where the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) have advised against all (or all but essential) travel solely due to the Coronavirus risk. It is your responsibility to check the latest advice from the FCDO prior to commencing your trip, which you can find at: www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice or by clicking here.
